It is quite a shame that nurses do not receive as much respect and prestige for all the work they do. Thankfully, there is new continuing education programs online that capitalize on the importance of the nursing profession. Nurses deserve the recognition, as they do all the behind the scenes work while doctors oftentimes reap all the recognition. Nursing is a respected, reputable profession which continues to be the cornerstone of the nation’s health care, and personal care industry. Nurses play many important roles and the future of healthcare relies heavily upon the professional care of nurses who graduate from accredited nursing degrees.
There has been much speculation about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which takes its course in the year 2014, expands access to private health insurance to over 30 million Americans, who did not have access before the Act was passed. This puts great strain on the healthcare industry, as more and more people need services and care, and never received it before. Hospitals are already overloaded, more and more doctors are retiring, and the shortages will be much more profound in all health sectors, not just primary care. Luckily, the nursing profession can make this adverse impact more manageable, if we approach it the right way.
